June 2008

Welcome to the Chinook Winds Regional Park Homepage. This website will be your source for information about the development of the Chinook Winds Regional Park.

Overview

The City of Airdrie is experiencing a period of sustained and rapid growth. Currently our population is over 30,000 residents as compared to approximately 14,500 residents in 1994. With this growth, there are, and will continue to be, additional demands placed on community services including the design and construction of outdoor recreation parks. It is vital that the City be able to ensure the provision of quality parks and enhanced landscapes in order to provide the quality of life expected by the City of Airdrie residents.

A key objective of the Parks Department for 2008 to 2011 is to develop a 25 acre regional park adjacent to the existing 40 acre Chinook Winds Ball Facility, which may include a skateboard park, splash park, tree nursery, off-leash park and West Side Parks Satellite Operations Centre.

The City of Airdrie, along with Stantec Consulting, invites you to join us in discussing and learning more about the future design of the Chinook Winds Regional Park.
